Prime Minister Carney’s government is pushing ahead with legislation to fast-track the approval and construction of major projects in Canada. The latest chapter in this effort is Bill C-39, the Building Canada Strong Act. In a new four-part blog series, themed “Crisis and Opportunity,” OKT’s ‘major projects’ team explains what Indigenous Governments should know about this piece of legislation.
In this first installment in the series, we unpack the Cabinet Directive that accompanied Bill C-39, which sets out how exactly the federal government intends to implement the changes to project reviews and approvals laid out in Bill C-39.
