The Osgoode Gold Key “One‑to‑Watch” Award was presented to Aashish Oberoi (JD ’19). Aashish is an associate in OKT’s Toronto and Yellowknife offices. He advises Indigenous governments on matters related to self‑government, the protection of lands and natural resources, and the development and administration of community trusts. He supports clients across multiple jurisdictions, including Ontario, the Northwest Territories, Manitoba, Alberta, and Nunavut.
Aashish is also an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, where he co‑teaches the first‑year seminar “Rights & Reconciliation: Indigenous Peoples & the Law”. He regularly writes and speaks on matters impacting Indigenous governments, and has appeared as a panelist for conferences including the Ontario Critical Minerals Forum and the Estates, Trusts and Pensions Conference. He has also been featured in media interviews on issues related to lands and natural resources.
