Joel Morales is an associate at OKT.  He is a member of Cowichan Tribes First Nation, located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.  He graduated from the University of Ottawa with both a Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degree. 

While in law school Joel served as the Vice-President of the Indigenous Law Students’ Association.  He also represented the University of Ottawa at the Kawaskimhon moot.  In his final year of law school, Joel participated in Osgoode Hall’s Aboriginal Intensive Program on Lands, Resources, and Governance where he completed a placement with the Maya Leaders Alliance in Belize.  During that time he worked on matters related to economic development and Indigenous rights. 

After law school he articled at Aboriginal Legal Services, a legal clinic in Toronto that serves the Indigenous community.  While articling, he represented clients at various tribunals, and assisted in several appeals, including at the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. 

Joel is a member of the Ontario Bar.
