Matthew is an Associate at OKT’s Toronto office and is developing a broad practice in our corporate group. Prior to OKT, Matthew articled at a national full-service firm in Toronto where his work focused on aboriginal, energy, environmental, real estate, land planning, and litigation matters.
Matthew holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Toronto, where he was a Faculty of Law Fellow researching the relationship between Canadian and Indigenous legal orders. He also holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.), a Bachelor of Civil Law (B.C.L), and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from McGill University, where he served as Managing Editor of Rooted, McGill’s Indigenous law journal, and Director of Business Operations at Compass, a legal clinic for startups. Matthew remains involved in the academic legal community and has published several peer-reviewed journal articles.
Matthew is licenced by the Law Society of Ontario (LSO). He is also member of the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) aboriginal law section as well as the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL).
Beyond his legal work, Matthew is also a decorated lacrosse player and has played in the 2018 and 2023 World Lacrosse Championships.
