Joshua Shoemaker is an associate at OKT. His practice focuses on community trusts, Indigenous governance—particularly around Indigenous jurisdiction and legislative drafting—land issues, and the duty to consult.
Joshua received a Juris Doctor at the University of Ottawa and a Masters of International Public Policy at Wilfred Laurier University. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Business at the University of Waterloo.
Prior to joining OKT, Joshua practiced for seven years at an international law firm, where he also advised Indigenous clients on various matters. Before law school, he worked as a policy analyst and government relations advisor for a provincial territorial organization in London, Ontario. Joshua was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2018.
