Graeme Cook

Graeme Cook is an associate at OKT, where he maintains a broad litigation practice with a focus on section 35 Aboriginal rights claims and appeals. He joined the firm in 2020 following clerkships at the Court of Appeal for British Columbia and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Since joining OKT, he has represented First Nations across the country on a wide range of issues, including matters related to:

• Aboriginal and Treaty rights, including Aboriginal title
• Indigenous governance and jurisdiction
• Issues and applicability of the Indian Act and the administration of reserve land
• First Nation band administration
• On- and off-reserve taxation
• Archeology and the protection of ancestral remains

He has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario and New Brunswick, as well as at the Supreme Court of Canada.

Graeme is a member of Metlakatla First Nation. He holds a JD from the University of British Columbia, where he received multiple awards for academic excellence. During law school, he worked at the Indigenous Community Legal Clinic, providing legal services in Aboriginal, criminal, family and employment law to Indigenous clients. He also worked with the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association and competed in the Gale Cup Moot.

Graeme also holds a BA in Political Science from the University of British Columbia and an MA in Public and International Affairs from the University of Ottawa. Prior to law school, he worked for the City of Toronto in various roles, including as an analyst and investigator at the Office of the Toronto Ombudsman.

Graeme is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
