Innu Day Schools
OKT Law and Budden & Associates are representing Innu Nation and 3 of its members in a proposed class action about the schools that operated in the Labrador Innu communities before the Innu took control of their own education system. Between 1949 and 2009, provincial school boards and Catholic-affiliated schools operated in the Innu communities of Sheshatshiu, Old Davis Inlet, Davis Inlet and Natuashish.
The case was launched in January 2024 against the Government of Canada and the Government of Newfoundland & Labrador.
No compensation is available through this case yet.
It is not necessary at this time to sign up in order to participate in the case. If you think this case may affect you, there is nothing you need to do at this time. We will update this site as the case moves along. We are also posting updates on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/innudayschools/
