Josh Favel is an Associate at OKT. He is Plains Cree and a member of Poundmaker Cree Nation from Treaty 6 in Saskatchewan.
Josh’s practice is focused on commercial matters and facilitating the economic development of First Nations clients. Prior to joining OKT, Josh articled and practiced as a corporate lawyer in the Toronto office of a full-service national firm.
Josh received his JD and a Certificate in Aboriginal Legal Studies from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law, where he was awarded the Dean’s Key Graduation Award, a Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Award, and a 1L Leadership Award. While in law school, Josh served as the Co-Editor-In-Chief of the Indigenous Law Journal, Co-President of the Indigenous Law Students’ Association, served on the Faculty’s TRC Implementation Committee, and was a JD Student Ambassador.
Josh holds a Bachelor of Arts with a double-major in Philosophy and Classics from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
Josh volunteers as a member of the Law Society of Ontario’s Indigenous Advisory Group.
Josh is a member of the Indigenous Bar Association and is a member of the Ontario bar.
