Matt McPherson

Matt McPherson joined OKT as an associate, after clerking at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. His practice is focused on litigation. Matt advises First Nations on the duty to consult and accommodate, Aboriginal title claims, and Aboriginal and treaty rights. He also works on negotiations, particularly for municipal consultation and accommodation agreements. Matt has worked with First Nations across Canada, and has appeared before courts to argue judicial review applications.

While at law school, Matt volunteered for Pro Bono Students Canada, received academic prizes in Contract and Constitutional law, and was awarded top oralist in the Jessup International Law Moot Competition.

Matt is a member of the American Society of International Law and he is on the Board of the Native Earth Performing Arts theatre company. Matt is a member of the Ontario and Manitoba bars.
